Der Orchideenrüsselkäfer ist ungefähr 1/8 Zoll lang, glatt und glänzend schwarz. Die Larve ist eine weiße, beinlose Larve, etwa 1/16 Zoll lang. Die Larve ernährt sich von den neuen Wurzeln und höhlt das Innere aus. Die Spitzen der befallenen Wurzeln werden schwarz. Der Erwachsene ernährt sich von den Wurzeln und zarten jungen Blättern, Scheiden und Zwiebeln. Der Erwachsene kann sich vor dem Öffnen von Blütenblättern ernähren. Verletzungen, die durch das Insekt verursacht werden, können zu Krankheiten führen.

Schnecken ernähren sich von Knospen, Blüten, Blättern und zarten Stängeln.

Blattläuse saugen Pflanzensäfte ab und werden normalerweise an den Stielspitzen gefunden. Ein starker Befall bedeckt die Blätter mit klebrigem Honigtau. Auf dem Honigtau kann eine schwarze, rußige Form wachsen. Die Insekten können grün, weiß, rosa oder schwarz sein.
